Solnedgang på Velvang

A new photopost on Tronder.org:

Velvang – a peaceful paradise for photography

Just 30 minutes from town, Velvang on Skatval is one of my favorite spots for photography. There’s no need to walk far – inspiring scenes are everywhere you look. The golden hour, especially in spring and autumn, brings beautiful sunsets and waves rolling in along the shoreline. With a tripod, long exposures, and both wide-angle and zoom lenses, the creative possibilities are endless.

Some call it landscape, others seascape – I just call it peaceful and fun. Bring your camera (or just your phone) and head to Velvang before sunset. You won’t regret it.

With easy car access and parking close to the shoreline, it’s a perfect spot for capturing serene landscapes, moody skies, and the quiet beauty of the Norwegian coast.

Nidelva og gamle bybro ❤️

Nidelva og gamle bybro ❤️

After sunset, during the magical blue hour, the Nidelva and the old city bridge reveal a mesmerizing interplay of light and shadow that captures both the city’s storied past and its modern pulse. Deep, cool blues and soft pastel hues paint the sky like a vast canvas, while the calm river mirrors every subtle nuance. The historic bridge, with its weathered stone and graceful arches, stands as a timeless guardian, its details softly illuminated by the diffuse glow of twilight. As the city slowly awakens with scattered warm lights along the riverbanks and narrow streets, these urban sparks create a striking contrast against the cool, blue backdrop. Every long-exposure photograph taken during this enchanting moment transforms the scene into a visual poem—a seamless fusion of history and modernity, inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and marvel at the harmonious dance between nature and human achievement.

On a brilliant February evening, Fløanbanken and Steinvikholmen transform into a magical winter tableau illuminated by the northern lights. The crisp, cold air and scattered clouds create a dramatic interplay of colors across the sky, where shifting hues of green, purple, and blue weave together in a mesmerizing light show. The historic landmarks—Fløanbanken’s sturdy architecture and the distinctive silhouette of Steinvikholmen—provide a striking contrast to the ephemeral dance of the aurora. Using long exposures on a sturdy tripod, photographers can capture this rare, ethereal moment where time seems to stand still and nature reveals its poetic beauty.

At Fløan Kai, history and modern photography merge into a breathtaking seascape. This is the very spot where, in times past, boats made their way across the fjord to Frosta—now visible in the distance, echoing a storied past. Captured with a sturdy tripod, a zoom lens, and long exposures, the images transform the moving sea into silky, dreamlike washes of blue and gold. In the background, the remnants of the old Fløan Church—a cherished cultural relic now located at Sverresborg in Trondheim—stand as a testament to history. Here, the interplay of timeless architecture and the fluidity of nature creates an enchanting narrative, where every long-exposure frame tells a story of heritage and enduring beauty.
