Stjørdal by early night – fjordview
There’s something magical about standing at Tangen in Stjørdal, looking out over the wide, quiet stretch of the Trondheimsfjord as evening falls.
The air changes.
The light softens into deep blues.
And with a camera in hand, you have the perfect opportunity to explore not just what you see — but what you feel.
This evening, I brought my camera and decided to experiment with ICM – Intentional Camera Movement, letting the stillness and the light blur into something more emotional and abstract.
A Place to Slow Down
Tangen is a small, open area at the edge of Stjørdal, just a short walk from civilization — but when you’re there, it feels like the world slows down.
The view over the fjord is wide and open, framed by low hills and distant lights across the water. It’s the kind of place where the transition from sunset into blue hour feels long, soft, and full of small changes.
Perfect for a quiet evening — and for creative photography.
Exploring ICM
Instead of chasing sharpness, this evening I focused on movement.
With ICM, you deliberately move the camera during a long exposure to create painterly effects — blending the water, sky, and land into flowing, abstract impressions.
The results at Tangen were beautiful:
- Soft stripes of blue and gold blending into each other.
- The lights across the fjord stretching into dreamy lines.
- A sense of motion inside the stillness — like the memory of the place more than just the place itself.
Tips for Shooting ICM at Tangen
- Use a shutter speed between 0.5 and 2 seconds.
- Try slow, steady horizontal movements for smooth, wave-like patterns.
- Experiment! Tilt, pan, or even twist gently — every frame will be different.
- Blue hour is ideal because the light is soft and rich without being too bright.
📍 Where It Is
Tangen is located at the old mouth of the Stjørdal River, facing the fjord. It’s easily accessible by car or by a short walk from Stjørdal sentrum.
